“ We had the seafood ravioli and the ribeye steak. They started with hands down the best garlic rolls we've ever had. The Mrs loved the seafood ravioli in a tomato cream sauce and o ordered my rib eye medium rare and it came out slightly closer to rare which was perfect for me. This is the first but not the last time we will be here. The service was top notch to boot! ”
“ Love the new vibe at the Glass Onion. The atmosphere seemed more relaxed and friendly with the new owners. Same great staff. We both felt that even the other guests seemed more at ease. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. For starters we chose Seafood Bisque which my hubby said was perfect and the best he'd ever had and I had the Bosc Pear and Roasted Beet salad and it was sooo good...the flavors were fresh and outstanding. Our entrees were Italian Sausage and Linguine and Risotto Gnocchi with Roasted Chicken. Both expertly prepared and plated. For dessert we shared the Coconut Cake and couldn't have made a better choice. Definitely will return and highly recommend. ”
“ Wow!! The food was amazing! The pear and beet salad was delicious! They had a great wine selection and the staff was very helpful and friendly! The restaurant was quaint and romantic for our dinner date! ”
“ Had a very pleasant dinner here for my mom's birthday! The atmosphere is sophisticated yet cozy, and the staff are all very nice and accommodating. The calamari was SOO good and so tender, and for my main I had the delicious homemade fettuccini noodles with local mushroom ragu. We also all shared a piece of pumpkin cheesecake for dessert that was delicious. ”
“ Wow - Weaverville! Outstanding Italian food ! Birthday Celebration, Started with Cocktails, Old Fashions and a Elderberry Fizz. Went on to have the most delicious Truffle Parm Fries, Calamari, and Garlic Knots. Ordered a Frogs Leap for wine with Dinner, delicious Caesar Salad and a Blue Cheese Salad. I had the Fresh Fettuccine with Sausage and Homemade Ricotta. It was wonderfully flavored but needed more Sausage. Another had Special - Diver Scallops, Fresh and Sitting on Corn Polenta, another had the Seafood Ravioli, in a cream sauce. Made our little one fresh fettuccine with Butter and Parm , she ate every drop! Then Vanilla Creme Brûlée and Chocolate Mousse Cake for dessert! Incredible Meal! ”
“ Glass Onion is a cozy little spot in Weaverville. My husband and I made reservations for dinner on the last night of our Asheville trip after reading about this restaurant in a local food blog. The interior of the restaurant is intimate without feeling crowded, and had a definite old-school vibe. Our server was wonderful and attentive, with great recommendations throughout our meal. We started with a bottle of Chianti, which was a nice accompaniment to our dinner. We sampled three appetizers, and liked the Warm Eggplant Caponata the most. This resembled a rustic ratatouille, and paired nicely with the crusty bread we were served after placing our order. The Bosc Pear & Slow Roasted Beet Salad was good - but not our favorite. We also tried the Grilled Peach Salad special, and were surprised that only the radicchio was grilled, not the peaches themselves. Our server told us that her favorite entree was the Housemade Fettuccini with Italian Sausage Ragu & Fresh Ricotta, so we had naturally had to try it. This was a perfect recommendation - the sauce was warm and comforting, and the handmade noodles were cooked to perfection. We cleaned the plate! My husband also ordered the Local Sunburst Trout, which he says was cooked well but "a little plain." We also tried their Tiramisu for dessert, which was a nice way to end our meal. While the food was probably closer to three stars for us on this visit, our server's friendliness and attentiveness made our experience all the more enjoyable. I think we would give the Glass Onion another chance the next time we're in the area - and just stick to their pasta offerings. ”
“ What a special, cozy Christmas Eve dinner at Glass Onion in Weaverville. It was perfect from start to finish!! Festive holiday decor on both the outside and inside. Low lighting provided such a warm and inviting environment on a cold holiday night. For appetizers we ordered the calamari and a cup of the seafood chowder soup. Both were devoured quickly - I tried the calamari and it was a delicious salty bite and was cooked to perfection. Our server also brought out a dish with three of their garlic rolls....YUM!! It was definitely the garlic roll I inhaled that ruined my appetite before our main course arrived :) There were many entree specials to choose from, our table ordered the Steak special (I think it was a filet) that came with green beans; the Fish special on a bed of saffron rice; and the Rigatoni with Bolognese sauce. Every dish was delicious and there was a nice variety of entrees to choose from between the menu and the nightly specials. We all had to-go boxes as we were absolutely stuffed from all the delicious food! Will be back very soon! ”
